Community Recovery: Lessons Learned from the 1994 Northridge Earthquake

by Richard Andrews

The 1994 Northridge Earthquake impacted a number of communities in southern California, from the San Fernando valley to Santa Monica and cities in Ventura county like Filmore. This presentation focuses on lessons learned from this event, especially the interaction of community needs and state and federal recovery programs.

Rory Wirtjes Presentation

Waste Management provides a critical public service - trash and recycling collection - to more than 1 million residents throughout Southern California and millions throughout the US.

Disaster preparedness is a critically important part of our overall approach to customer service and safety.

In this presentation, Rory Wirtjes will be discussing the steps that WM has taken to be the leader in the industry on disaster preparedness and how we've put those steps into action in situations throughout the nation, including during Hurricane Katrina and the 2007 Teamsters strike.
